Schedule a Planned Outage

BrightRidge will disconnect and reconnect service for commercial/industrial customers as requested for rewires, upgrades, equipment cleaning, electrical tests and maintenance. You will need to allow a minimum of a 48-hour notice. Work scheduled is a first come first serve basis with limited availability. If you are a commercial or industrial customer, you may schedule this service by calling the Control Room at (423) 952-5011.

There is typically no charge for this service if the request for disconnect/reconnect is made during regular business hours, Monday – Friday, 8am to 4pm. If the request for disconnect/reconnect is made during NON-business hours, there will be a charge. Contact a Key Account Representative at (423) 952-5142 for after-hours estimates.

Depending on the work being performed, an electric permit and inspection may be required.

Cut Loose Scheduling Guidelines

No Cut Loose will be allowed on a Friday, during inclement weather and not until all area power outages have been restored. A Cut Loose will only be allowed in such conditions, if an emergency exists.

Please be aware that any scheduled Cut Loose may be subject to cancellation, should a storm occur. Please call to reschedule cut these after the storm has cleared.

Cut Loose Guidelines for City Emergencies

For City Limit areas, if an emergency occurs outside of your City Hall’s normal business hours and a permit can not be purchased, an emergency “permit letter” may be picked up anytime at the BrightRidge Shipping & Receiving office entrance located at 2600 Boones Creek Rd, Building #300, Johnson City, (423) 952-5011.

This “permit letter” allows BrightRidge to restore power while insuring the property owner or electrician will purchase the electrical permit and line up an inspection by the next business day.

Cut Loose Guidelines for County Emergencies

If an emergency occurs and a Cut Loose is required, BrightRidge will restore the power once the repair work is complete and a permit has been purchased. Please notify BrightRidge Dispatch at (423) 952-5011 once these steps have been completed.

The property owner or electrician must then contact the inspector on the next business day, to request the inspection. Per the State of TN Inspectors, if an inspection is not completed by the next business day, the power will be disconnected until the inspection is complete.
